AGAGE scientists Blagoj Mitrevski, Nada Derek and Paul Krummel co-authored an article in The Conversation about the steep rise of carbon dioxide to record levels at the Mauna Loa observatory in Hawaii. However, as the atmosphere of the Southern Hemisphere contains less pollution than the north, this means the global average atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases is now well above the recorded level.
